DIVULGAÇÃO CIENTÍFICA DO MUSEU NACIONAL: ANÁLISE DAS ATIVIDADES APÓS O INCÊNDIO DE SETEMBRO DE 2018

Abstract

Over the years, the growth of science centers and museums has been correlated with the advance of Scientific Dissemination (CD). A museum needs to structure its activities in a way that the public is interested in the subjects, thus creating actions, events and projects that promote a dynamic interaction between the visitor and the object. The National Museum (NM), since 1818, has been one of the main institutions of nonformal education and has one of the largest historical, biological, and anthropological collections in the world. In 2018, a fire devastated the palace and most of its collections were lost. Given this scenario, the aim of this study was to analyze the continuation of the DC activities promoted or involving the MN after the fire. Thus, this qualitative descriptive research is characterized as a case study. Data collection consisted of two stages, the first was through documentary research of three sectors of the NM, responsible for structuring these activities: Teaching Assistance Section (TAS), the Extension Coordination (EC) and Museology Section (SEMU). In the second, a netnographic research was carried out on NM's Facebook and Instagram social media. With the data obtained from the documents of the three sectors, the activities that happened/would happen before the fire and continued after the fire were analyzed; activities that existed before the fire and did not continue after the fire; and the activities created after the fire. In netnographic data, the types of activities were analyzed; the frequency of activities per month; the cost of activities; the places where the activities were carried out; and changes in public adherence. As a result of the research, it was observed that many DC activities continued, new ones emerged and some expanded after the fire, which shows the resistance of NM. It was also observed that the institution adhered to new places of practice, new accesses such as the virtual environment and gratuitousness in all its activities. In addition, it was possible to visualize the NM restructuring process, specifically the promoted SD, with a significant number of activities of various types being carried out. However, it is notable that the loss of the palace caused some changes in the structure and organization of the institution, such as the exclusion of some fundamental activities for the dissemination of scientific knowledge and the necessary adaptations and readaptations of sectors and departments.

Com o passar dos anos, o crescimento dos centros de ciências e museus tem sido correlacionado ao avanço da Divulgação Científica (DC). Um museu precisa estruturar suas atividades de forma que o público se interesse pelos assuntos, criando assim, ações, eventos e projetos que promovem uma interação dinâmica entre o visitante e o objeto. O Museu Nacional (MN), desde 1818, é uma das principais instituições de educação não formal e conta com um dos maiores acervos históricos, biológicos e antropológicos do mundo. Em 2018, um incêndio devastou o Palácio e grande parte das suas coleções foi perdida. Diante deste cenário, o objetivo deste estudo foi analisar o prosseguimento das atividades de DC promovidas ou que envolveram o MN após o incêndio. Assim, esta pesquisa qualitativa de caráter descritivo caracteriza-se como um estudo de caso. A coleta de dados consistiu em duas etapas, a primeira deu-se através de pesquisa documental de três setores do MN, responsáveis pela estruturação dessas atividades: Seção de Assistência ao Ensino (SAE), a Coordenação de Extensão (CE) e Seção de Museologia (SEMU). Na segunda, foi realizada uma pesquisa netnográfica nas redes sociais Facebook e Instagram do MN. Com os dados obtidos nos documentos dos três setores, foram analisadas as atividades que aconteciam/aconteceriam antes do incêndio e prosseguiram após o incêndio; as atividades que existiam antes do incêndio e não prosseguiram após o incêndio; e as atividades criadas após o incêndio. Nos dados netnográficos, foram analisados os tipos de atividades; a frequência de atividades por mês; o custo das atividades; os locais onde as atividades foram realizadas; e as mudanças na adesão do público. Como resultados da pesquisa, observou-se que muitas atividades de DC prosseguiram, novas surgiram e algumas se expandiram após o incêndio, o que mostra a resistência do MN. Observou-se, ainda, que a instituição aderiu a novos locais de prática, novos acessos como o ambiente virtual e a gratuidade em todas as suas atividades. Além disso, foi possível visualizar o processo de reestruturação do MN, especificamente a DC promovida, com um quantitativo significativo de atividades de diversos tipos sendo realizadas. Entretanto, é notável que a perda do palácio ocasionou algumas alterações na estruturação e organização da instituição, como a exclusão de algumas atividades fundamentais para a divulgação do conhecimento científico e as adequações e readaptações necessárias dos setores e departamentos.
