This dissertation aims to examine school literacy, provoking an analysis of the plurality of literacies, which we will refer to here as multiple literacies (ROJO, 2009). This analysis will be conducted through a socio-Historical perspective of language, but also understanding language as a social practice. For this, we will use the experience of school Slam, which originated in the Black movement, as an example of literacy that is created from the experiences of its announcers and that is most expressive on the streets - or outside the limits of the classroom. As it is a practice that occurs in the school scenario, we will seek to understand the school's influences and reflexes on the slammers' performances, especially concerning the elaboration of marginal literacies, which echo in the conception of the identity – both collective and individual – that the subjects start to have through this experience. The methodology used was that of participant observation, which took place in the Slam groups, interviews, and also in exchanges with students. We understand that, through such observation and the notes taken during fieldwork (always verified from careful research), we have contributed to the debate on multiple literacies, highlighting Slam as a literacy agency that propels new school practices and perspectives. We have examined, therefore, the effects that these narratives bring to the construction of Black identity, which is consolidated, resists, and is reinvented fundamentally through language. It is through this language that the Black identity finds mechanisms of survival and reinvention to thus occupy its social place.en
