Metallic materials are widely used as structural elements, especially in the oil industry where most of the components are produced in steel. Due to its susceptibility to corrosion, the replacement of steels by materials resistant to service conditions would considerably reduce the cost and time dedicated to maintenance. Composite materials have been shown to be a good alternative due to their high mechanical strength, low weight and good resistance to corrosion. However, its polymeric matrix limits its application in places where high fire resistance is required. This research aimed to study the feasibility of replacing steel-made floor gratings with composite material floor gratings protected by bonded geopolymer flame sheets. The geopolymer, a material similar to Portland cement, has high temperature resistance. Adhesion tests were performed on composite, geopolymer and sandwich composite substrates. The influence of the type of adhesive and surface treatment were evaluated. Polyurethane and epoxy adhesives were used on surfaces treated with unidirectional abrasion (UA) and bidirectional abrasion (BA). In the adherence test (pull off), substrates of composite materials treated with UA bonded with the polyurethane adhesive showed greater adherence, reaching 13.48 MPa. For the geopolymer subjected to the same surface treatment (UA) and bonded with the epoxy adhesive, there was a failure in the substrate under a tension of 8.31 MPa. In the sandwich composite, geopolymer failure occurred in samples bonded with epoxy adhesive and treated with AB under 7.22 MPa. For bonding sandwich composites of geopolymer-adhesive-composite type, the epoxy adhesive showed better results.en
