MC CAROL: A PERFORMANCE PRETA QUE ECOA EM CANTOS DE FUGA

Abstract

This work aims to discuss the Black performance and artistic compositional repertoires of Mc Carol's career, which culminated in “Songs of Escape”. The act of singing is presented in this study as a communicative practice that allows the numerous cre(a)tivities of Black lives to exist through their own bodies. Therefore, “songs of escape” are a diasporic musical technology capable of challenging the Brazilian music industry, given that fat Black women, especially in funk, have been organizing to build their own careers, which are denied to them daily. Based on this idea, we will present three links in these escapes, identified as the chapters of this research. They introduce the entities/objects in the musical poetics of this artist, as we understand they engage with the subjectivities and experiences of Black women. Thus, we understand that collective female voices through funk are infinite, as they perform cyclical and continuous movements of hope, sagacity, and dignity, with intergenerational and territorial actions as their starting points.

Este trabalho se propõe a discutir a performance preta e os repertórios artísticos composicionais da carreira de Mc Carol que desencadearam em Cantos de Fuga. O ato de cantar é demonstrado neste trabalho como uma prática comunicacional que possibilita que as inúmeras (cria)tividades de vidas pretas existam através de seus próprios corpos/corpas. Sendo assim, cantos de fuga é uma tecnologia musical diaspórica capaz de tensionar o mercado fonográfico brasileiro, tendo em vista que mulheres negras gordas, em específico no funk, têm se organizado para construir suas próprias carreiras que são negadas diariamente. A partir desta ideia, apresentaremos três elos em fugas, identificados como os capítulos desta dissertação. Eles apresentam os objetos entidades na poética musical desta artista, por entendermos que eles dialogam com as subjetividades e vivências das mulheres negras. Diante disso, compreendemos que as vozes coletivas femininas através do funk são infinitas, porque realizam movimentos cíclicos e contínuos de esperança, sagacidade e altivez, tendo como pontos de partida as atuações intergeracionais e territoriais.
