NARRATIVAS DE ESTUDANTES QUILOMBOLAS AMAZÔNICOS/AS DO INSTITUTO FEDERAL DO PARÁ (IFPA) – CAMPUS ÓBIDOS: IDENTIDADES EM TRÂNSITO E RESISTÊNCIA

Abstract

This dissertation investigates the narratives of Quilombola students from the Amazon region enrolled at the Federal Institute of Pará (IFPA) – Óbidos Campus, aiming to understand how identity, race, gender, and sexuality intersect throughout their educational trajectories. Framed within the field of Ethnic-Racial Relations and grounded in a decolonial and antiracist perspective, the research seeks to listen to, value, and make visible voices historically silenced by colonial projects that continue to shape educational institutions. The study begins by identifying a systematic erasure of Quilombola identities in institutional documents and pedagogical practices at IFPA, which perpetuate a Eurocentric and technocratic logic detached from the realities of traditional Amazonian peoples. Using a qualitative-interpretive approach anchored in narrative analysis (Denzin; Lincoln, 2006; Moita Lopes, 2006), interviews were conducted with self-identified Quilombola students, whose stories revealed acts of resistance, identity displacement, and the confrontation of oppressions related to race, gender, and sexuality. The narratives were analyzed through five thematic axes: (1) Quilombola youth and educational trajectories; (2) Territorialities and identity displacements; (3) Racism and silencing in school; (4) Gender, sexuality, and (in)visibility; and (5) Memory, ancestry, and belonging. The results underscore the power of listening as method and narrative as insurgent epistemological practice, reaffirming the need for an education committed to racial justice and to the recognition of Quilombola knowledge systems. In conclusion, the study advocates for the institutional strengthening of initiatives such as the Center for Afro-Brazilian and Indigenous Studies (NEABI) and a critical revision of school curricula, policies, and practices, aiming at the effective implementation of Laws nr. 10.639/2003 and nr. 11.645/2008.

Esta dissertação investiga as narrativas de estudantes quilombolas amazônicos/as do Instituto Federal do Pará (IFPA) – Campus Óbidos, com o objetivo de compreender como se entrelaçam identidade, raça, gênero e sexualidade nas suas trajetórias educacionais. Inserida no campo das Relações Étnico-Raciais e fundamentada por uma perspectiva decolonial e antirracista, a pesquisa busca escutar, valorizar e visibilizar vozes historicamente silenciadas pelo projeto colonial ainda presente nas instituições educacionais. O estudo parte da constatação de um apagamento sistemático das identidades quilombolas nos documentos institucionais e nas práticas pedagógicas do IFPA, que reproduzem uma lógica eurocentrada, técnica e descolada das realidades dos povos tradicionais amazônicos. A partir de uma abordagem qualitativa-interpretativista, ancorada na análise narrativa (Denzin; Lincoln, 2006; Moita Lopes, 2006), foram realizadas entrevistas com estudantes autodeclarados/as quilombolas, cujas histórias revelam formas de resistência, deslocamento identitário e enfrentamento das opressões de raça, gênero e sexualidade. A análise das narrativas foi organizada em cinco eixos temáticos: (1) Juventudes quilombolas e trajetórias educativas; (2) Territorialidades e deslocamentos identitários; (3) Racismo e silenciamentos na escola; (4) Gênero, sexualidade e (in)visibilidades; e (5) Memória, ancestralidade e pertencimento. Os resultados apontam para a potência da escuta como método e a narrativa como prática epistemológica insurgente, reafirmando a importância de uma educação comprometida com a justiça racial e o reconhecimento dos saberes quilombolas. Ao final, propõe-se o fortalecimento institucional de núcleos, como o Núcleo de Estudos Afro-Brasileiros e Indígenas (NEABI), e a revisão crítica dos currículos, políticas e práticas escolares, com vistas à efetiva implementação das Leis n. 10.639/2003 e n. 11.645/2008.
