CAMINHOS DE EXU E A PROPOSTA DE UM CATÁLOGO VIRTUAL PARTICIPATIVO DE LIVROS INFANTOJUVENIS SOBRE AS RELIGIÕES DE MATRIZ AFRICANA

Abstract

Religions of African origin suffer, to this day, in Brazilian society, manifestations of religious racism, through acts of physical and symbolic violence perpetrated against their followers and places of worship. Based on the conviction that children's literature is an important tool for critical racial literacy, a concept introduced in Brazil by Aparecida de Jesus Ferreira (2015), this academic work has the general objective of triggering a collective reflection on how religions of African origin are being represented in Brazilian children´s literature, driven by the structuring dialogical basis of the proposed participatory virtual catalog, between the technical knowledge and the knowledge of the social groups involved. To this end, the peritexts (GENETTE, 2009) of children's books with the theme of Afro-Brazilian religions are analyzed in order to identify editorial strategies that indicate a confrontation with the resistance, identified in academic studies (MARQUES, 2014; DONADONI, 2020; ROSA, 2022; PEREIRA; AGUIAR, 2022), for the use of these literary works in the classroom, especially those that make reference to the Afro-Brazilian deity Exu. In this sense, the analyzed children's books are published from 2003 onwards, the year of enactment of Law No. 10,639, which established the mandatory teaching of Afro-Brazilian history and culture in elementary and high schools (BRASIL, 2004), and contributed to an increase in the editorial production of literary works with this theme (PEREIRA, 2016; PEREIRA; AGUIAR, 2022). Thus, the children's books that are analyzed are Omo-oba (OLIVEIRA; MARINHO, 2009; OLIVEIRA; FRANÇA, 2023), Minhas contas (ANTONIO; KONDO, 2022), Modupé, meu amigo (CAPONE; CARNEIRO, 2015), ABC afro-brasileiro (CUNHA, 2009), A Ialorixá e o pajé (SANTOS; SAMPAIO, 2018), Umbanda para crianças e iniciantes (CARAJILESCOV, 2024), Erêmi: o guia da umbanda para crianças de axé (ou outra fé) (LEANDRO; BARELLI, 2020), Lendas de Exu (MARTINS, 2005; 2011), Exu, dois amigos e uma luta (NUNES; BRESSANE, 2019), Exu e o mentiroso (ATHAYDE; ZÚÑIGA, 2012), Exu: Laroyé! (SANTOS, 2021), and the children's literary works Caminhos de Exu (CUNHA, 2005), Eleguá e a sagrada semente de cola (CUNHA, 2007) and Awani (CUNHA, 2014), by author Carolina Cunha, which became the source of inspiration for the theme proposal of a participatory virtual catalog of children's books to be developed by the Institute of National Historical and Artistic Cultural Heritage (Iphan). This proposed heritage education action through participatory virtual forums between publishers, authors, young readers, education professionals, parents and guardians, researchers, Iphan technical staff and followers of religions of African origin, understands education from the perspective of a dialogue, where the strengthening of subjects occurs through the production of knowledge about their own cultures and memory, according to what Simone Scifoni (2022) defined as the new pedagogy of heritage.

As religiões de matriz africana sofrem, até os dias atuais, na sociedade brasileira, manifestações de racismo religioso, através de atos de violência física e simbólica perpetrados contra seus adeptos e locais de culto. A partir da convicção de que a literatura infantojuvenil é uma ferramenta importante de letramento racial crítico, conceito introduzido no Brasil por Aparecida de Jesus Ferreira (2015), este trabalho acadêmico tem por objetivo geral desencadear uma reflexão coletiva sobre como as religiões de matriz africana estão sendo representadas na literatura infantojuvenil brasileira, impulsionada pela base dialógica estruturante do proposto catálogo virtual participativo, entre os saberes técnicos e os saberes dos grupos sociais envolvidos. Para esse fim, são analisados os peritextos (GENETTE, 2009) de livros infantojuvenis com a temática das religiões afro-brasileiras de forma a buscar identificar estratégias editoriais que indiquem um enfrentamento à resistência, identificada em estudos acadêmicos (MARQUES, 2014; DONADONI, 2020; ROSA, 2022; PEREIRA; AGUIAR, 2022), para a utilização dessas obras literárias em sala de aula, em especial, daquelas que fazem referência à divindade afro-brasileira Exu. Nesse sentido, são analisados livros infantojuvenis publicados a partir de 2003, ano de promulgação da lei nº 10.639, a qual estabeleceu a obrigatoriedade do ensino da história e da cultura afro-brasileira nas escolas de ensino fundamental e médio (BRASIL, 2004), e contribuiu para um aumento na produção editorial de obras literárias com essa temática (PEREIRA, 2016; PEREIRA; AGUIAR, 2022). Dessa forma, foram analisados os livros infantojuvenis Omo-oba (OLIVEIRA; MARINHO, 2009; OLIVEIRA; FRANÇA, 2023), Minhas contas (ANTONIO; KONDO, 2022), Modupé, meu amigo (CAPONE; CARNEIRO, 2015), ABC afro-brasileiro (CUNHA, 2009), A Ialorixá e o pajé (SANTOS; SAMPAIO, 2018), Umbanda para crianças e iniciantes (CARAJILESCOV, 2024), Erêmi: o guia da umbanda para crianças de axé (ou outra fé) (LEANDRO; BARELLI, 2020), Lendas de Exu (MARTINS, 2005; 2011), Exu, dois amigos e uma luta (NUNES; BRESSANE, 2019), Exu e o mentiroso (ATHAYDE; ZÚÑIGA, 2012), Exu: Laroyé! (SANTOS, 2021), e as obras literárias infantojuvenis Caminhos de Exu (CUNHA, 2005), Eleguá e a sagrada semente de cola (CUNHA, 2007) e Awani (CUNHA, 2014), da autora Carolina Cunha, as quais se tornaram a fonte de inspiração para a proposta da temática de um catálogo virtual participativo de livros infantojuvenis a ser desenvolvido pelo Instituto do Patrimônio Histórico e Artístico Nacional (Iphan). Essa proposta de ação de educação patrimonial através de fóruns virtuais participativos entre editoras, autores, jovens leitores, profissionais da educação, pais e responsáveis, pesquisadores, corpo técnico do Iphan e adeptos das religiões de matriz africana, entende a educação na perspectiva do diálogo, onde o fortalecimento dos sujeitos se dá através da produção de conhecimentos sobre suas próprias culturas e memória, de acordo com o que Simone Scifoni (2022) definiu como a nova pedagogia do patrimônio.
