UMA MULHER EXTRAORDINÁRIA? ELEMENTOS PARA DISCUSSÃO NO ENSINO DE CIÊNCIAS SOBRE A PARTICIPAÇÃO FEMININA NAS CIÊNCIAS A PARTIR DA HISTÓRIA DE LAURA BASSI

Abstract

It is recognized in the area of Science Teaching the importance of a discussion about science that includes issues beyond content and products, that is, about the construction of the sciences. Recent perspectives also point to the need to promote science teaching that does not exclusively involve narrative hegemony of genius, white men located in the Global North. In that In this sense, we argue that the inclusion of the historical perspective known as History Cultural Sciences, in communion with the debates provided by the feminist perspectives, can be a path with great potential for teaching of sciences that perceives and legitimizes the participation of women in the construction history of scientific knowledge. In order to discuss how participation and deletions of women occurred, we deal in this dissertation with elements of the trajectory of Laura Maria Caterina Bassi (1711-1778), natural philosopher and teacher at University of Bologna in the 18th century. From its history and the context that the surrounds us, we raised issues around the circumstances surrounding the female education, the limitations imposed on women in pursuing a career academic and social relationships that were built as strategies to permanence in academia. To reconstruct the historical episode, we used secondary and primary sources. Following the historical narrative, we analyze the study of case and, using the Science Education literature in conjunction with the theoretical framework, we point out how the proposed historical approach can be a way to discuss a teaching about science oriented to diversity and representativeness from the discussions on female trajectories in science.

É reconhecida na área de Ensino de Ciências a importância de uma discussão sobre ciências que inclua questões para além de conteúdos e produtos, ou seja, sobre a construção das ciências. Perspectivas recentes, apontam ainda para a necessidade de promover um ensino de ciências que não envolva exclusivamente a narrativa hegemônica de homens geniais, brancos e localizados no Norte Global. Nesse sentido, defendemos que a inclusão da perspectiva histórica conhecida como História Cultural das Ciências, em comunhão com os debates proporcionados pelas perspectivas feministas, podem ser um caminho de grande potencial para um ensino de ciências que perceba e legitime a participação das mulheres na construção histórica do conhecimento científico. A fim de discutir como a participação e os apagamentos das mulheres ocorreram, tratamos nessa dissertação de elementos da trajetória de Laura Maria Caterina Bassi (1711-1778), filósofa natural e professora da Universidade de Bolonha no século XVIII. A partir de sua história e do contexto que a circunda, levantamos problemas em torno das circunstâncias que envolviam a educação feminina, as limitações impostas às mulheres ao seguirem uma carreira acadêmica e as relações sociais que foram construídas como estratégias para permanência no meio acadêmico. Para reconstrução do episódio histórico, utilizamos fontes secundárias e primárias. Seguindo a narrativa histórica, analisamos o estudo de caso e, utilizando a literatura da Educação em Ciências em articulação com o referencial teórico, apontamos como a abordagem histórica proposta pode ser um caminho para discussão de um ensino sobre ciências orientado à diversidade e representatividade a partir das discussões sobre trajetórias femininas na ciência.
