Since the advent of the Industrial Revolution in the eighteenth century, it has been possible to notice an environmental crisis resulting from the relationship between man and nature, which is not always harmonious. Until the twentieth century, the chemical industry corroborated this scenario from the linear conception of science and the technological and scientific advances made without precedent. It was then, after the Bhopal accident in 1984, that the need for a more cautious look at chemical processes arose. In this sense, in 1998, Paul Anastas and John Warner presented the concept of Green Chemistry (GC), which aims to appropriate a series of principles to reduce or eliminate both the generation and the use of substances that are harmful to humans and the environment. Despite initially having an industrial focus, it is vital that the concepts of green philosophy be disseminated to various areas of knowledge, including primary education. However, few universities include this debate in undergraduate courses, reflecting an education focused on scientific content. It is crucial that teachers train critical students who can understand the relationship between technology and science as part of society, a central goal of the STS (Science, Technology, Society) approach. Therefore, this work aimed to create and apply, in two different years, a course that works GC concepts in a Specialization course in Chemistry Teaching based on the STS approach. The construction of the course sought to contemplate the primary references of GC and STS so that the students could, in the end, indicate a proposal for insertion in primary education, which was later categorized. From the Case Study, we intended to analyze how the course influences the change in the course participants' thinking. To this end, we applied ten questions from the PIEARCTS (Ibero-American Project for the Evaluation of Attitudes Relating to Science, Technology, and Society) and a questionnaire on GC concepts. In addition, a self-evaluation was done at the end of the course and an interview one year after the end of the course to find out if anything had changed in the teaching practices. The results indicate that the final PIEARCTS averages improved in relation to the initial ones in both applications, which was corroborated in the self-assessments when they considered that there was a change in beliefs and attitudes related to science and technology. Moreover, the concepts of GC brought in the questionnaires were expanded, and most of the proposals had a social-scientific or critical-reflective bias, showing that they moved away from strictly disciplinary knowledge. After the questionnaires with the former students, it was possible to point out that the course had an impact on their teaching practice since all respondents said they use the concepts of GC from the STS approach, even after the course was over. Thus, the work aims to contribute to the consolidation of this area at various levels of education, including primary education, so that more students are trained from an education perspective about the relationships between chemistry, technology, society, and the environment.en
