The objective of this work is to investigate a trajectory of Funk, based on the narratives of five black men, of different age groups, all with peripheral origins and who were inserted in the Funk environment between the 1970s and 1990s. The research data were generated from oral discoveries made on the basis of a semi-structured script. The analysis of these data was made from the perspective of Pan Africanism, as it is an ideology built by black thinkers that simplified the phenomena that surround the losses of black populations on the continent and in the diaspora. Funk, as diasporic music, based on these experiences, is a musical genre that is built influenced by two mass movements: Civil Rights and Black Power, in addition to the African decolonization process. These phenomena have a common origin: Pan Africanism, thought not only to reflect on an African identity, but the experiences that crossed its trajectory before and after the advent of racism and Capitalism. The work presents Funk as an instrument of struggle in the USA, but that quickly transports itself to Brazil and becomes a catalyst movement of the desires of the black youth of that time and that later will have its continuation from the influences of electronic music, of the Brazilian context and its increasing penetration in the peripheries of Rio.en
