A CIÊNCIA NACIONAL COMO CAMINHO PARA UMA EDUCAÇÃO EM CIÊNCIAS NA PERSPECTIVA SOCIOPOLÍTICA: UM ESTUDO SOBRE O DESENVOLVIMENTO DA FÍSICA NUCLEAR BRASILEIRA

Abstract

In today's world, we face several social crises, including the fake news crisis, the climate crisis, the growth of social inequalities and a recent growth in anti-scientific movements. Faced with all these setbacks, it is extremely important that citizens trained in schools are aware of this scenario and are able to think of ways out and enable possibilities for the future. To this end, basic education science classes should be spaces that allow reflections and discussions about these crises, seeking to discuss and bring to light questions about science and the production of scientific knowledge. In the area of science education, one of the possibilities to avoid classes focused exclusively on issues related to scientific content is the historical approach. In this sense, the perspective of the Cultural History of Science is a possibility for carrying out this approach, focusing on scientific practices. Therefore, this thesis brings the historical study of the development and establishment of research in nuclear physics in Brazil, aiming to indicate possible paths so that, when using the historical approach to this episode, it is possible to find alternatives so that questions about science can be raised. in basic education science classes. Based on a historical study, we indicate entry points for teaching to follow a path connected to sociopolitical themes. To better situate and support the historical study, this thesis also presents a systematic review of the literature, in which national magazines in the area of science teaching were consulted and, based on this, a current overview of the use of science episodes was created. national in the area of science education. To conclude, a triangulation is presented between the conclusions of the review, the existing demands regarding the need to address sociopolitical themes in science education as well as indications of how the historical episode presented can meet this demand.

No mundo atual, enfrentamos diversas crises sociais, dentre elas a crise das fake news, a crise climática, o crescimento de desigualdades sociais e um recente crescimento de movimentos anticientíficos. Diante de todos esses percalços, é de extrema importância que os cidadãos formados pelas escolas tenham consciência desse cenário e que consigam ser capazes de pensar em saídas e de viabilizar possibilidades para o futuro. Para isso, as aulas de ciência da educação básica deveriam ser espaços que permitissem reflexões e discussões a respeito dessas crises, buscando discutir e trazer à tona questões sobre a ciência e sobre a produção de conhecimento científico. Na área da educação em ciências, uma das possibilidades para evitar aulas focadas exclusivamente nas questões relativas aos conteúdos científicos é a abordagem histórica. Nesse sentido, a perspectiva da história Cultural da Ciência é uma possibilidade para a realização dessa abordagem, dando foco nas práticas científicas. Sendo assim, a referida tese traz o estudo histórico do desenvolvimento e estabelecimento das pesquisas em física nuclear no Brasil, visando indicar possíveis caminhos para que, ao utilizar a abordagem histórica para esse episódio, seja possível encontrar alternativas para que questões sobre a ciência sejam levantadas nas aulas de ciência da educação básica. A partir de um estudo histórico, indicamos portas de entrada para que o ensino trilhe um percurso conectado a temas sociopolíticos. Para melhor situar e dar suporte ao estudo histórico, essa tese também apresenta uma revisão sistemática da literatura, em que as revistas nacionais da área de ensino de ciências foram consultadas e, a partir disso, foi feito um panorama atual do uso de episódios de ciência nacional na área da educação em ciências. Para concluir, é apresentada uma triangulação entre as conclusões da revisão, as demandas existentes a respeito da necessidade de abordar temas sociopolíticos na educação em ciências bem como indicações de como o episódio histórico apresentado pode atender a essa demanda.
