Resumo

Cobalt alloys are widely applied to components that operate in aggressive conditions involving corrosion, wear and high temperatures. The alloys of this group are known for their excellent performance when subjected to aggressive environments, which can act individually or synergistically. They are widely applied in the form of cast products and in the form of coatings obtained by welding. The processing of coatings using the transferred arc plasma (PTA) technique has been studied to obtain coatings with several advantages over conventional welding processes. The system of carbidehardened alloys (CoCrWC), known as of the “Stellite” family, presents remarkable weldability and ease of manufacture, however, it presents challenges regarding processing resulting from the interaction with the substrate to be coated, which leads to the modification of the properties of the obtained coatings and, consequently, their performance. Thus, the general objective of this work was to study the effect of CoCrWC coatings (Stellite 6) obtained by PTA on steel substrate API 5L X65. Was evaluated the influence of single- and double-layer deposition on the degree of interaction with the substrate (dilution), microstructure and formed phases. The impact of the observed differences on the hardness of the coating / substrate interface and the ZTA was also evaluated. It was observed that the dilution decreased as the number of strands disposed laterally and layers of coating were deposited, varying between 23.09 % to 36.43 %. Typical surface welding solidification structures are observed as the layers are deposited. The microstructures produced exhibit a flat interface, followed by the columnar, cellular and dendritic region at the interface with the substrate. The condition coating of two layers composed of several cords presented the lowest dilution value and absence of ZPD, however there are defects of cracks in the cordons analyzed. The coating of a layer composed of several cords can be classified as the best result due to the second lower dilution value, absence of DMR, the best uniformity and absence of defects.
