This research is born out of a pressing exercise to bring into a discipline I teach in the municipal education system in Rio de Janeiro, the English language, a perspective of vizibility and valorization of the knowledge and wisdom of black and indigenous peoples. The hypothesis raised in this research is that the elaboration of didactic sequences, and of a critical material in English, will result in a greater capacity for reflection about racial diversity on the part of students. Thus, the general objective of this research was to describe and analyze these practices and materials. This study started from a bibliographical, historiographical review, which highlighted names such as Kabengele Munanga, Stuart Hall, Lélia Gonzalez, Grada Kilomba, Nilma Lino Gomes, Silvio Almeida, and other thinkers whose works expose racism as a fundamental part of social, economic and political organization in Brazil. Consequently, this work will show the impact of a white supremacist logic that organizes the Brazilian educational system, as pointed out by thinkers such as Jerry Dávila and Marcelo Paixão, which interferes with the access of black populations to schooling and which promotes the invisibilization of their histories and knowledge by favoring hegemonic curricula when schooling these populations. It was evidenced throughout this study, how the English language, with a history of a colonizing and imperialist project, according to authors such as Gabriel Nascimento, Aparecida Maria de Jesus and Luiz Paulo da Moita Lopes, can become, from a decolonial teaching perspective, the language of globalization in accessing information about other cultures and knowledge. Following the premises of autoethnography, I depart from a memorial analysis as a way of looking at a past mediated now by a critical disengagement with the coloniality of the materials and practices available then, which now, in the present day, I seek to re-signify in dialogue with the current concepts used to promote an antiracist education. By establishing a counter-hegemonic movement with regard to the teaching of the English language, this research presents and develops four methodological pillars in which literature, art/multimedia, multidisciplinarity and the protagonism of students constituted the basis for the whole pedagogical process developed in this work. Finally, the results of this research are based on reports and teaching materials prepared for the discipline in question.en
