Resumo

The aim of this study is to encourage reflection on the possibilities and obstacles to implementing changes in degree courses in Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry, as pointed out by graduates, in view of the problems of low demand and dropout that these courses are facing. We started from the hypothesis that certain changes could reduce the gap between initial training and the reality found in the classroom. Ten graduate teachers were interviewed (four in Physics, five in Mathematics and one in Chemistry), all former students of the author of this research on the Electrotechnical Technical Course at a State Technical School located in the city of Rio de Janeiro. Based on their speeches, we identified the impact of initial training on their practices, the obstacles and possibilities they faced during the training course and when working in the classroom, as well as possible changes in degree courses. As a theoretical contribution, references were used that constitute the basis and new trends for research in the areas of teacher training and practice. Conducted from a sociocultural perspective, we developed a theoretical-methodological framework based on the ideas of Bakhtin and Freire, generating an important construct for analysis. In this way, in an attempt to capture the reality of what happens to teachers in the context of their professional practices, based on their discourses, this research has a qualitative approach and, because it examines the contemporary events of a well-defined group of subjects, coming from the same technical background, who went on to train in degree courses, with a wide variety of evidence, a case study was carried out. The data was obtained through semi-structured interviews. To analyze the data - the subjects' speeches - we emphasized the dialogical characteristics of discourse in its socio-historical-cultural dimension, characterizing Dialogical Discourse Analysis, supported here by the theoretical-methodological framework. The analysis of the teachers' speeches allowed us to rehearse some answers to the questions guiding the research, as well as to reflect on possible proposals for changes in initial training, including the need to listen to primary school teachers who, collectively, take on the role of protagonists in the assessment and production of knowledge. In presenting the results of the analysis, we understand, according to the Bakhtinian framework, that each subject is unique and this allows us to understand the unique, the singular, and at the same time the possible.
