Resumo

In a context where black people are systematically killed day by day, through free, great, daily violence, a reflection about the role of the media in relation to this topic is needed. This is a research about how the murder of Ágatha Felix, an eight year old black girl from the deprived community of 'Fazendinha',in Complexo do Alemão, was covered by a mean of communication from the hegemonic media- the ‘Extra’ newspaper and by a mean of communication from a non hegemonic media - the newspaper ‘Alma Preta Jornalismo’, both in their digital versions. In order to search for explanations and to understand how it is possible that a black child is killed in her mother’s lap when trying to get back home, this reality is framed through the concepts of racism from (GOMES 2017; MUNANGA, 2010) and antiblackness (PINHO, 2021) from the afropessimistic perspective. A reflection about the concept of hegemony is proposed from the thoughts of Gramsci, considering that hegemony is a something that is in a constant dispute, nor being fixed or pre stated,in need of institutions that support this concept itself. The media is one of these institutions, in this case the one that is an ally to the interests of hegemony, the one named as hegemonic media. On the other hand, trying to build new narratives is the non hegemonic media. This one, according to Moraes (2013), is the type of media aligned to the social movements motifs. Muniz Sodré (2014) is used to state communication as a Science and a builder of what is known as common. The concepts of necropolitics from Mbembe(2018) and biopolitics from Foucault(2008) were used to try to understand the deadly politics black people have been under throughout world history.
