Resumo

The entire historical process of restricted access to formal education, in addition to the prejudiced association between the black population and socially less valued work, led to a discrepancy between the number of whites and blacks in roles considered to have high technical capacity and social distinction. Vacancies and functions with greater social prestige are commonly occupied by white people, without there being any questioning or minimal reflection about this, as they guarantee the continuity that until then is understood as normality. Being a black person carrying a load of social prestige is a breach of expectations in the Brazilian corporate environment, hence the usual strangeness. For scholars of whiteness (BENTO, 2002; SCHUMAN, 2018), whiteness brings guarantees that allow people to have mobility in the structure of classes. White raciality and its crushing social superiority are responsible for originating and perpetuating exclusionary social practices. Being white in Brazil is surrounded by privileges of access to goods and rights very naturally. Being white means seeing yourself represented in everything associated with positivity. Corporate institutions maintain practices based on supposed personal effort, as if there were equity among citizens, disregarding the atrocious speculations that have meant that black men and women are always occupying spaces of little social prestige and have even suppressed their basic right of access to diverse scientific knowledge. Based on these considerations, this research aims to discuss the topic of whiteness (BENTO, 2002; SCHUCMAN, 2018) and its implications for work relationships. The focus to be made problematizes the expansion of neoliberal thought, the crossings of a racist structure (Almeida, 2019) and how this same structure operates in corporate environments. Among the objectives, we seek to investigate, through discourse analysis, what are the personal and social effects of this estrangement caused by the breach of expectations and how it is evident. To this end, the qualitative-based research will have as its methodological resource the concept of discursive practice (MAINGUENEAU, 2002), in a cartographic perspective (DELEUZE; GUATTARI, 1996), showing the implications of a society culturally forged in origins, especially racial ones
