Resumo

Homophobic hate speech refers to the act of inciting hatred, discrimination, or hostility against an individual, motivated by prejudice against people of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and transvestite (LGBT) sexual orientation. Homophobia was criminalized through a ruling by the STF in Brazil. This study proposes a method for constructing a classification of homophobic hate speech, aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which emphasize the promotion of social, economic, and political inclusion for all, regardless of sexual orientation or any other condition. Submitted to the Research Ethics Committee (CEP), under the Brazilian Ministry of Health, the study received approval under certificate number 59293922.0.0000.5289. This research aims to overcome the limitations of previous studies on the detection of homophobic hate speech in Portuguese, which rely on rudimentary lexicons and labeled datasets, improving the performance of classification models. The specific objectives are the creation of a homophobic lexicon, LEX-HOMOFENSA-PT, and the development of a labeled dataset of texts extracted from tweets, TEXT-HOMOFENSA-PT. At the end of the study, the application of classification models to the TEXT-HOMOFENSA-PT dataset was evaluated, including traditional classifiers: LR, SVM, KNN, DT, and NB; ensemble classifiers: RF, AB, and GB; artificial neural networks: CNN and MLP; and large language model (LLM) classifiers: BERT, RoBERTa, and GPT. The LR model achieved the best performance, with an accuracy of 85.37%, a recall of 85.30%, and an F-measure of 85.30%.
