This work is the result of a reflective, theoretical and (in)world research (i. e. based on my experiences) which was carried out in “Complexo de Favelas da Maré”, more precisely in “Vila do Pinheiro”. The research is inserted in the ethnic-racial relations field of studies and understands the residents of slums and peripheries of large cities as those who Achille Mbembe called the “Becoming Black of the World”. We start from the premise that the favela is the current version of the city of the colonized (Fanon, 2015), a place where the “others”, the “enemies” live. As such, in those places, the State justifies the application of all kinds of exceptions, making the lives constituted there as killable lives, that is, “bare life”. Considering the current phase of capitalism, namely neoliberalism, the “Black Becoming” is one of the faces with which the racial monster presents itself and uses it to devour those who arouse its appetite (infinite possibilities of exploring the body with a view to accumulating capital). Using a theoretical lens based on the Bio-Necropolitics concept, the study aims to identify the impacts of racism and of various forms of violence which are inflicted, by multiple actors, on the bodies of these individuals. To do so, although I do not inhabit that space, I start from my experience as a teacher at a municipal school located in this space which has its existence built among war machines. In order to achieve this goal, this study is based on authors anchored in decolonization and postcolonialism, as well as the epistemologies of the south.en
