Resumo

The purpose of this research is to express how the teaching of Science, Technology and Society (STS) is presented from the professional dissertations, published between the years 2005 to 2019. Such research objects were selected by means of the words Science, Technology and Society; Science, Technology, Society and Environment, and their respective acronyms, CTS and CTSA, contained in abstracts and / or title and / or keywords, from the CAPES Thesis and Dissertations Catalog. The search resulted in 244 professional dissertations, being cataloged in electronic spreadsheets identifying educational institutions, region, graduate program, author, title, advisor, keywords, and references, which resulted in 23 graduate programs, 42 Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), 132 supervisors. After all this cataloging process, 993 descriptors were obtained, these were standardized, placed in alphabetical order and the repetitions were excluded, to only have the different words, which resulted in 357 keywords, 16,771 references and 20,543 authors of the references. The methodology used in the research is classified as a bibliographic description, and the method used in the data analysis is classified as mixed. From the analyzes of the HEIs, the ones that stand out the most in terms of the production of dissertations are the Federal Institute of Espírito Santo, University of Brasília and Federal Technological University of Paraná. When observing the geographical division of the productions, it is observed that 52% of them come from the southeast region. Social Network Analysis (SNA) was used to know which of the keywords are used to describe the dissertations identified with CTS teaching, with highlights for the words Teaching Physics, CTSA, Chemistry Teaching, Scientific Literacy and Technological, Science Teaching. Regarding references, of the 15 most cited works listed in the research, 7 are books and 8 are articles, two of which are Santos and Mortimer (2002) and Auler and Bazzo (2001), references that appear as the most cited in 7 research that aim to know the references that will serve as the basis for the study of the Brazilian CTS. As for the authors, when we list the 20 with the highest frequency of citations, we obtain 15 Brazilians and 5 foreigners, with a close academic relationship being observed among most national authors. Of the Brazilian authors, Wildson L. P. dos Santos, Décio Auler, Walter A. Bazzo stand out, as they appear not only in the present research, but also in 5 others of the same scope.
