A arte do saber, do fazer, do tecer: O artesanato em Nova Iguaçu (RJ) na perspectiva da Economia Criativa e da Sustentabilidade

Abstract

This research aims to investigate how Handicrafts and the Creative Economy can contribute to sustainability in the city of Nova Iguaçu-RJ and favor the generation of jobs and income, the reduction of inequalities, local development and the preservation of the environment. The literature, however, contains a low number of productions on this subject. In this sense, we sought to elucidate the participation of Nova Iguaçu's handicrafts in sustainable development through field visits and semi-structured interviews with the handicrafts coordinator of the Nova Iguaçu Educational and Cultural Foundation (FENIG) and with the artisans involved in the Nova Iguaçu Municipal Handicrafts Program (PMANI), administered by FENIG. Another theoretical framework presented the history of handicrafts, their characteristics and form of production, as well as public policies to promote the activity in the country and in the city of Nova Iguaçu, through the PMANI. The data obtained shows the need to apply specific public policies so that handicrafts can establish themselves as a creative economic activity, moving towards the sustainable development of the region; the study also showed the relevance of handicrafts in the social development and inclusion of workers in the labor market. In addition, they show how the activity can contribute to development in a world marked by the negative impacts produced by man on the environment.A presente pesquisa pretende investigar como o Artesanato e a Economia Criativa podem contribuir para a sustentabilidade na cidade de Nova Iguaçu-RJ e favorecer a geração de empregos e renda, a redução das desigualdades, o desenvolvimento local e a preservação do meio ambiente. A literatura, no entanto, contém um baixo número de produções acerca desta temática. Neste sentido, procurou-se elucidar a participação do artesanato iguaçuano no desenvolvimento sustentável através de visitas a campo e entrevistas semiestruturadas com a coordenação de artesanato da Fundação Educacional e Cultural de Nova Iguaçu (FENIG) e com os artesãos inseridos no Programa Municipal de Artesanato de Nova Iguaçu (PMANI), administrado pela FENIG. Outro referencial teórico apresentou a história do artesanato, suas características e forma de produção, as políticas públicas para fomento da atividade no país e na cidade de Nova Iguaçu, através do PMANI. Os dados obtidos mostram a necessidade da aplicação de políticas públicas específicas para que o artesanato se estabeleça como atividade econômica criativa, caminhando em direção ao desenvolvimento sustentável da região; o estudo também mostrou a relevância do artesanato no desenvolvimento social e inclusivo de trabalhadores no mercado de trabalho. Além de tudo, mostram como a atividade pode contribuir para o desenvolvimento de um mundo marcado pelos impactos negativos produzidos pelo homem no meio ambiente.
